541 CVR   image1839 Folded Letter India to Ireland, a very lengthy (cross-written) personal letter inside is datelined Secunderabad 29th April 1839, and is addressed to Dublin, Ireland. There is a large double oval "OUT STATION / SHIP LETTER / MADRAS / MAY.3.1839" handstamp, next to a boxed "INDIA LETTER / ___GATE" handstamp, with a London SEP.17.1839 double circle in red and a Dublin SEP.18.1839 diamond receiver in red. There is also a small boxed "G.R.Q" (?) handstamp. The letter was once reinforced with white paper along two folds, has several tears and aging, still an interesting letter inside and postmarks. 542 CVR   image1838 Folded Letter Madras to Scotland, the letter inside is datelined Madras 9th May 1838 and is addressed to Paisley, North Britain. Sailed on the S.S. Sesostris, with a boxed "INDIA LETTER / SOUTHAMPTON" handstamp in red, London OCT.2.1838 double circle in red, boxed "PAISLEY / OC 4 / 1838" handstamp in black, and a boxed "1/2" for the road toll fee. Fine and neatly written-up.

543 CVR   image1842-43 Folded Letter from Calcutta to London, a lengthy letter datelined Calcutta SEP.9.1842 addressed to London and endorsed (inside) "Pr. India Steamer to Suez, Thence via Marseilles" and on front possibly via the "John Bull". Front has an Irish boxed "India Letter / Cove" handstamp, with matching Cove double broken circle dated MAR.3 on back, alongside a MAR.4.1843 Dublin diamond datestamp in red and a MAR.6 London circular receiver datestamp in red. 544 CVR   image1851 Cover Mailed from India to Isle of Wight, Redirected to Jersey, an envelope with 4 page letter inside (with three-masted ship embossed logo) mailed from India (MAR.17.1851 Bombay despatch on back) to "The Lady Mary Gordon" on the Isle of Wight (APR.19.1851 Newport Isle of Wight receiver in blue) endorsed "overland via Marseilles". The letter is marked "mifsent to" and was redirected to Jersey and has a APR.17.1851 double arc receiver in red. Back also has two London GPO datestamps in red (APR.16 and APR.19). Lady Gordon, a.k.a. "Mrs Disney Leith" or "Mary Charlotte Julia Leith", was a British novelist who often traveled to Iceland and translated Icelandic novels (see Wikipedia). 547 CVR   image1937 Rangoon India "Cygnus" Airmail Crash Cover to England, mailed Rangoon on NOV.30.1937 to Manchester, England aboard the "Cygnus" which crashed in Brindisi with mail from India and Australia, with the stewart and one passenger killed. With violet boxed "Damaged by / Sea Water / in Airplane / Accident" handstamp. A very fine cover which still has its Burma overprinted stamp, considering that all the mail had to be salved from salt water.

548 CVR   image1936 Ahmedabad India to England "Scipio" Airmail Crash Cover, mailed AUG.18.1936 with 18 pies postage plus 6 annas airmail fee (all on back of cover), canceled by Ahmadabad boxed slogan cancels. The airplane "Scipio" crashed in the sea off the coast of Crete during a storm, and the mail addressed to England was quickly taken to London, where it arrived on AUG.25.
