1358 PC   imageExhibit of Used Central and South American U.P.U. Postal Stationery Cards to 1900, a three frame (48 page) exhibit of cards that were correctly mailed outside of the country of origin, from Argentina to Venezuela. All of the cards are government issued and pay the correct rate (no uprating necessary) except for one card which is uprated to pay a ferriage rate across the Isthmus of Panama. We counted 16 different countries, and each countries' cards are different, except for some exceptions where there is a different destination, routing or some other reason. 1359 PC   imageExtensive Collection of Used Worldwide U.P.U. Postal Stationery Cards to 1900, with 295 cards from about 115 different countries of the world (no France or Great Britain - offered elsewhere in this sale), all well researched and written-up on pages. Within each country, when there is duplication it is either of a different type, destination, etc. Except for a few rare exceptions, none of the cards were uprated, and all pay the proper rate for mailing to a foreign country. We note many difficult to obtain cards from countries one rarely encounters, and there is great postmark interest as well as different country destinations. An exceptional collection just waiting to be exhibited, and a rare opportunity to acquire such a variety of different cards. Overall very fine, our online photos only show a small representation. Should easily be worth our low estimate of $5 per card, as most were bought in the range of $10 to $50 and in some cases more. Also includes a useful photocopy of all the Higgins and Gage listings pertaining to pre-1900 U.P.U. cards in three volumes.
