1336 CVR/PC   imageExtensive Specialized Collection of 200 American Octagonal Town Postmarks on Cover or Card, 1829 to 1909, all extensively written-up on album pages in two thick binders, sorted alphabetically by state and then town. Each cover was carefully chosen for the clarity of its postmark and quality of the cover and we noted no duplication. We note a wide variety of postmarks, with small to large diameters, some with double rims, different colours, different fonts, some are duplex with killers, also noted some toothed octagonals and horizontal (stretched) octagonal formats. We also noted many closed post offices and have not checked for any rare or valuable postmarks. Our many photos should give a good enough idea of what this collection includes, please ask for more if needed. Very fine and a great opportunity to purchase such an extensive collection. Should easily be worth our low estimate. 1337 CVR/PC   imageExtensive Specialized Collection of Early Vermont Postal History, 1816 to 1899, with 142 covers or cards, all well written-up on pages in three binders, sorted alphabetically by town name, plus another 34 loose (not yet written-up). We counted over 100 different town names, noting a wide variety of postmarks, including circular, double circles, duplex, different colours, fancy obliterators, closed post offices, summer offices, and more. There does not appear to be any duplication, as for the same town the collector has different datestamps, etc. It would appear that the collector carefully chose items for the clarity of the their postmarks as well as variety. Very fine overall, our many online pictures should give a good enough idea, still be sure to ask if you require more. Comes with a 32 page "Compendium" of Vermont post offices, plus "The Postal History of Vermont" by Slawson, Bingham and Drenan (308 pages, 1969).
