All write-ups include Mackay catalogue numbers for the postmarks (book is offered in the previous lot), description of postmarks and much more. Starts with two postcards showing a map of the island, followed by various postmarks from Bembridge, Brading, Brightstone, Cowes, East Cowes, Freshwater Station (and variants), Gurnard, Newport, Niton, Niton-Undercliff, Osborne, Ryde, St Helen's, Sandown, Seaview, Shanklin, Shorewell, Strand, Totland Bay, Vectis Postal Service, Ventnor, Wooton Bridge, Wroxall and Yarmouth R.S.O. F. Noon / OC 19" handstamp in red. 1313 CVR   image1851 Cover Mailed from India to Isle of Wight, Redirected to Jersey, an envelope with 4 page letter inside (with three-masted ship embossed logo) mailed from India (MAR.17.1851 Bombay despatch on back) to "The Lady Mary Gordon" on the Isle of Wight (APR.19.1851 Newport Isle of Wight receiver in blue) endorsed "overland via Marseilles". The letter is marked "mifsent to" and was redirected to Jersey and has a APR.17.1851 double arc receiver in red. Back also has two London GPO datestamps in red (APR.16 and APR.19). Lady Gordon, a.k.a. "Mrs Disney Leith" or "Mary Charlotte Julia Leith", was a British novelist who often traveled to Iceland and translated Icelandic novels (see Wikipedia). 1314 CVR   image1858 8d Banking Receipt Mailed Jersey to France, a receipt from the Jersey Joint Stock Bank mailed on DEC.5.1858 (Jersey 409 duplex) to St Brieuc (France, just south west from Jersey) with part receiver on back. The receipt is franked with a fine 6d (Scott 27) and 2d (plate 5) Queen Victoria issues, both tied by the duplex, and there is circled "PD" (paid to destination handstamp and a red DEC.7 Granville French entry transit datestamp on front, and a DEC.8 Rennes transit on back (unusual, as Rennes is much further inland going south).
