1281 CVR   imageGroup of 65 Various Covers and First Day Covers, starts with a group of 7 stampless covers (most are fronts) from 1826 to 1840 with various crown and other markings, followed by 5 Penny Red covers (1858 to 1870), a group of 7 single franked covers (1861-1873) to either Canada or the USA including 3d rose (x2 #49, $125 each, and x1 #61 $140), 6d lilac (x1 #27, $275), 6d lilac (x1 #45a, $400) and 1sh green (x2 #28, $490 and #48 $525) as well as 5 other Victorian-era covers. We also note a 2sh6d Seahorse single on cover to Australia (w/receiver), a KEVIII FDC (front only, SG £175), a ½d green QV single on printed 1882 matter, an 1869 Money Letter franked 5d, some stationery covers and cards, a group of 8 KGVI covers and FDC (with some better, see pictures) as well as a few more odds and ends. 1283 PC   imageCollection of Used Great Britain U.P.U. Postal Stationery Cards, 1876 to 1899, with a total of 67 used cards, 14 of which are well researched and written-up. We note a good variety of postal card types, many useful postmarks, a few were uprated, destinations include France, Italy, United States, Germany, Canada, Newfoundland, Sweden, Netherlands, India, Prussia, Bermuda, Spain, St. Kitts, Australia, Russia, Switzerland, Romania, Burma, "Asiatic Turkey", Egypt, Austria, Panama, one card (return portion) was mailed from Trinidad to GB and a few cards have been mailed to and from British Agencies in Constantinople. 1284 CVR   imageOld Time Group of GB Penny Red Covers, we counted roughly 350 covers, including envelopes, folded letters, mourning envelopes, etc. all bearing a Penny Red adhesive (imperforate, perforated, with stars, letters, etc.). Fewer than 200 of these covers have a typewritten information label glued on, usually describing the stamp and its cancel. Also includes three glassines of on and off paper Penny Red stamps (perhaps a hundred or so). A great lot for stamp or postmark study, do expect many faults, including several fronts, torn open, etc. Nevertheless there are many fine to very fine covers included, see our overview photos. 1288 CVR 1 image1847 Contrived Bisected Penny Black Cover, mailed from Southampton (despatch cancel and dateline inside) on MAY.4.1847 to London, franked with a bisected 1p black and a bisected 1p red imperforates, both tied to each other and to the cover by two neat Maltese Cross cancels in black. The half-Penny Black has faint traces of a red Maltese Cross cancel and the one and a half page message inside is written in Spanish. 1290 O   image1850s Part Cover Mailed from Alderney, a piece of cover franked with a 1p red-brown (letters in lower corners) perforated 14, tied by a "965" in oval grid, from Alderney. Back of cover piece has a double-arc Alderney datestamp (year is blurry, but used 1851-1860). Scarce and fine. Stanley Gibbons "Collect British Postmarks" lists the grid numeral at £400 and the dated double-arc datestamp at £450. Presented on album page with write-up.

1298 CVR/PC   imageGroup of 9 Early Guernsey Covers and Cards, 1940-1941, starts with two postcards, each franked with a bisected KGVI 2d orange (one is postmarked DEC.27.1940, the first day of issue). Next is a collection of 7 Occupation issues on cover: a vertical pair of ½d green on a FDCard, a single 1d red single on a FD picture postcard, a vertical pair of the 2½d with diagonal perforation (FDC), two covers each with a single 2½d franking, a commercial cover franked with two 1d and a ½d addressed locally and a letter card franked with two 1d and a ½d addressed locally.
