934 E/P 1E imagePreliminary Pencil and Ink Original Proposal for Jersey's 1958 Regional Stamp, measuring 79 x 116 mm, with the words POSTAGE / REVENUE at right (instead of just POSTAGE at left) and otherwise already similar to the accepted design. Signed by designer "E. Blampied" at lower right next to "Rough for proposed stamp". Accompanied by an original February 12th, 1957 letter from the General Post Office in London to Blampied returning the proposal to him and asking him to send them another "of the correct size of 3.44 inches deep and 2.84 inches wide" and also "...slightly more finished, at least in, say, one corner...". Also comes with a mint and a used issued stamp. A unique addition to any serious British Commonwealth or Jersey collector. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (All Scans)

936 nh 12 var image1969 5d Arms of Jersey with Dry Printing of the Gold Mace, a mint never hinged upper right cylinder block of 8 with a somewhat progressive printing of the gold mace (so light it is difficult to see), accompanied by a normal lower right corner block of the same stamp for a comparison of how dramatic this error is. Stanley Gibbons lists the booklet stamp with "missing mace" at £500 (we saw one offered online for £950, with a stated 5 known) and although this is obviously not from a booklet, nor is the mace completely missing, it is still quite striking. Very fine.
