It is immediately apparent that the owner carefully chose each stamp for quality of stamp but also readability of plate number, and the key high numbers are each quite clear. 909 142F imageCirca 1911 £1 Green King Edward VII Lowden Forgery, a well done photo lithography forgery of the stamp, with a forged Jersey parcel post postmark tying it to a small piece of brown paper, fine and scarce. John Stewart Lowden was a stamp dealer who was arrested after having sold over 2,000 of these stamp forgeries. He usually sold them affixed to a brown piece of paper, mimicking how many Jersey usages were found (tobacco industry mailings), and when the brown paper was soaked off, the "impressed" watermark would wash away (this one is still attacked to its original paper). A great item to add to a collection of Great Britain, King Edward VII, Jersey or forgeries.

Estimate $ 200

SOLD for C$100.00

910 og/nh 159-172, 183 image1912-1922 ½p to 1sh King George V Set, two black stock sheets containing a collection of 84 mint stamps, including the second printing of the 9d. A quick look revealed some inverted or reversed watermarks, but we recommend a closer inspection, as the owner had each value separated into small groups, sometimes for shade differences, sometimes for watermarks. The catalogue value given includes premiums for never hinged stamps, but we have not counted the watermark varieties, or the different printings (Dies), so actual value will be higher, as we only used the least expensive listing for each value. Overall fine to very fine. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (All Scans)
