Canton transit strikes on front and Japanese Ken’etsuzumi (censored) handstamp in carmine, with Numori seal. Return address corner card reads “Arden Ashore and Afloat.”. 939 CVR/PC Great Britian imageCollection of Roughly 190 Airmail Covers and Cards from Great Britain to North America in Two Volumes, 1939-1969, generally organized chronologically on homemade pages, in four sections including Pre-WWII; 1939 to 1946; Post WWII to 1966; and 1967 to 1969. The collection attempts to cover the various airmail rates, including second class service, post card rates, Clipper mail, and more, noting a few registered and censor covers, along with a few high denomination frankings. The collection also includes hand written notes by the owner, denoting routes and airlines in a few cases, along with a few articles and rate tables from a variety of sources. 940 CVR India image4.NOV.1929 First Flight Cover on First Day of Issue of the 6a Airmail Issue, mailed from Calcutta to England with an illustrated Air Mail cover franked with a pair of 1a KGVI issues plus a 6a Airmail issue, with its bottom margin signed by the stamp's designer "G. Grant" and dated on "4th Nov.". The back of the cover also bears Grant's signature and date, as well as the signature of Stephen Smith dated same day, and that of the cover's recipient dated Nov 21st. Front and back also show a boxed "First Day of Issue of Air Mail Stamps" handstamp in blue-green. Very fine and desirable.
