LotNo. Symbol Cat No. Lot Description
861 PC   imageExhibit of International Post Card Rates of Inflation Era Germany, September to December, 1923, containing 30 postcards (all franked with inflation era stamps), organized chronologically on 16 pages, housed in a binder. The first page is a well described title page outlining the 10 different rate periods from the fall and winter months of 1923. The following pages show generally 2 to 4 examples from nine different rate periods (missing November 20th to 25th), including the difficult to acquire November 1 to 4 rate period (November 1 was a holiday, and November 4 was a Sunday). We encountered at least 15 different destinations, mostly to Europe, but other interesting ones including Haiti, Japan, China, and Sicily as examples, along with a few first day, and last day of rate post cards. A nice clean lot, from a very interesting moment of postal history. All pages shown online. 862 CVR/PC   imageGroup of 37 Germany Inflation Era Covers and Cards, 1922-1924, in hingeless mounts on 21 quadrille pages. The collection is generally organized chronologically, with roughly half of the material being ether covers or postcards. No rate periods are indicated on the pages, however, a few of the covers have spectacular frankings (mostly to the United States), and the majority of postcards appear to pay domestic rates. A nice lot for the specialist. See our online photos for a sampling. A few faults on a few covers, typical for this era, overall fine to very fine. 866 CVR   imageValuable Collection of Great Britain Victoria Issues on Cover, with 44 covers, neatly displayed in black mounts on 33 quadrille pages. The owner described each cover by identifying the stamp(s) by S.G. number, often stating the plate, postmarks, routing, etc. We note many different rates, including several paid by single frankings, as well as interesting combinations, noting 1p, 2d, 2½d, 3d, 4d, 5d, 6d, 7d, 8d, 9d, 1sh, 2sh8d, with destinations such as Canada, France, Hong Kong, India, Italy and United States. There is also a good variety of postmarks, a few registered, special rates, and more. A few of the items that stand out are an 1865 2sh8d folded letter (long letter inside) to Hong Kong, an 1875 7d folded cover to Paris, France and many more. A few are front only (as indicated below those items) and there are opening faults, creases, etc., still many are very fine, and the catalogue value would be huge. A useful lot for collectors as well as dealers. 870 CVR Footy imageCollection of 103 Great Britain Autographed Football Commemorative Covers, 1968-2000s, neatly arranged in a cover album, consisting of covers commemorating important football matches (including F.A. Cup and European League matches), and includes the teams, final score, match information, pictorial cancel, and an autograph from a player that participated in the match. Just a few of the matches and autographs include 1975-1976 U.E.F.A. Cup round 2 match with Liverpool vs. Real Sociedad, signed by Liverpool legend Ray Clemence; Champions League Arsenal vs. Inter Milan, signed by Lee Dixon; the 100th meeting of Manchester United and Manchester City, signed ironically by Mark Hughes, along with representation from Bristol City, Blackpool, Leeds United, and other teams. Each cover has a separate card included with biographical information on the player that autographed the cover. The lot also includes an autographed card from 1968 that includes 8 of England's 1966 World Cup winners. A nice lot for the cover collector and football fan (minus the Wimbledon result that is still painful for yours truly). We cannot guarantee the authenticity of each autograph, still a very clean lot. 874 CVR Scotland imageCorrespondence from the Nisbet Family of Scotland, 1685 to 1723, consisting of 47 letters (some with postmarks), three receipts and two marriage contracts. The marriage contracts consist of a March 27, 1688 contract between William Nisbet and Jean Bennett (very lengthy) and the second is dated April 2, 1718 between William Nisbet and Christian Bennett (very short in length). The letters pertain mostly of family matters between brothers, and are addressed to, or written by William Nisbet (1666-1724), Walter Nisbet and Thomas Nisbet (brother of William). Most of the letters were written in London or Edinburgh, and one was written in Rotterdam. A fascinating read, as most of these are fairly legible for the time period. Some of the documents have a filing number attached to them by archival (?) tape. Should easily be worth our low estimate of C$10 per item. Our representative pictures should give a good idea of the contents of this correspondence. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (Scan 3) (Scan 4) (Scan 5) (Scan 6) (Scan 7) (Scan 8) (All Scans)
