Comanche; 1942 Ivigtut censored to New York, through Father Point; 1942 Ivigtut to Ottawa, on Canadian Consulate stationery franked with a single 30o Polar Bear issue, with circular Canadian Consulate / Godthaab / Greenland purple handstamp on back; and 1947 Ivigtut to Victoria, British Columbia, through Frobisher Bay, Fort Chimo and New York (this with opening faults but two arctic cinderellas on back). 822 CVR   image1938 Aklavik / Tuktoyaktuk Curiosity Cover, mailed at Aklavik N.W.T. on SEP.17.1938 to the United States, this cover would have theoretically travelled on the R.M.S. Nascopie on her way from Hebron, Labrador (there from SEP.14 to SEP 15) to Halifax Nova Scotia (arrived there SEP.19). It bears an unusual "M.S. "Fort James" / TUKTOYAKTUK" two-line handstamp which we cannot explain. The original (genuine) handstamp (which is different in font and size, etc.) was used on letters mailed via the Fort James, when she was stationed in Tuktoyaktuk. The Fort James ship sank on August 5, 1937, and as far as we know, no other ship sailing in the North was given that name. We know of a few other covers with only the second line of the handstamp, mailed about the same time as this cover. Foxing around the stamp, else an interesting item.

Folding tears and pencil markings on the earlier of the two, other is very fine, scarce and ideal for any advanced collection. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (All Scans)

LotNo. Symbol Cat No. Lot Description
827 CVR   imageCollection / Accumulation of Roughly 550 Nova Scotia Town Postmarks on Cover, 1950s-2000s, loose in a box, with a few hundred different towns ranging from A to W, including a few pre-1950 covers. The lot consists of primarily commercial mail paying domestic and a few registered rates, noting a variety of postmarks including c.d.s types, several different pictorial cancels, machine cancels, POCON, MOON, MOTO, Klussendorf, broken circle, and more. Just a few of the town names include West Bay Road, Parker's Cove, Isaac's Harbour, East Apple River, River John, Mosherville, Lydgate, and much more, with some towns having a variety of postmark types. A nice opportunity for further research on modern postmarks, as many cancels would have short periods of use, closed sub offices, etc. Ideal for the Nova Scotia or Canada postmark collector as the lot would take years of searching to duplicate, as the previous owner spent a lifetime collecting Canada and worldwide socked on the nose postmarks and postal history. Our photos show a sampling and overview only. We note a few small faults along with roughly 30% of the covers being #10 size envelopes. Overall fine to very fine.
