LotNo. Symbol Cat No. Lot Description
741 CVR   imageAccumulation of Canada Roughly 750 Covers and Cards, filling a bankers box. A cursory check indicated a wide variety of material, generally ranging from the 1890s onwards, noting advertising covers (including some illustrated), post cards, postal stationery, AR cards, military mail (noting various censor handstamps and tapes), first flights, first day covers, and much more. Rates include domestic, airmail (including foreign destinations), special delivery and registered, along with a wide variety of postmarks including c.d.s. (noting many BC towns), R.P.O., duplex, etc. Some of the covers are sleeved accompanied with retail prices ranging from $5 to $15 and up. A nice lot for collectors and dealers alike. Our photos show a small sampling and an overview. A few faults to be expected, overall fine to very fine. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (Scan 3) (Scan 4) (All Scans)

742 CVR/PC   imageCollection / Accumulation of Roughly 2,500 Canada Town Postmarks on Cover and Cards, 1950s-2000s, filling two bankers boxes, with several hundred different towns, noting better representation from Alberta and Manitoba, with much smaller representation across the country. The lot consists of primarily commercial mail paying domestic, along with first day covers, a few registered rates and postage dues, and a few commercial covers franked with Millenium stamps, properly used in the year 2000 (difficult to acquire as most of these stamps were saved for mint collections). Just a few of the postmarks encountered include MOON or POCON types, c.d.s., broken circle, pictorials, machine cancels, Klussendorf, sub offices, and more, with some towns having a variety of postmark types. A nice opportunity for further research on modern postmarks, as many cancels would have short periods of use, closed sub offices, etc. Ideal for the Canada postmark collector as the lot would take years of searching to duplicate, as the previous owner spent a lifetime collecting Canada and worldwide socked on the nose postmarks and postal history. Our photos show a sampling and overview only. We note a few small faults along with the majority of covers being #10 size envelopes. Overall fine to very fine. British Columbia
LotNo. Symbol Cat No. Lot Description
747 CVR   imageGroup of 7 Covers Mailed from Victoria British Columbia, 1876-1877, all are addressed to Henry J. Morgan / State Department / Ottawa by his wife Nemmie, Her father was a Victoria parliamentarian and had free-franking privileges, so 6 of the 7 covers were mailed free-franked, with his initials at the lower left corner. It can be seen in our large offering of Morgan postal history elsewhere in this sale, that when her father was out of town, she was "forced" to use stamps on her mail. A few of the envelopes have "Government House / British Columbia" printed backflaps, and one has a "Pacific Mail Steamship Company / San Francisco" backflap, which is stationery she often used. The letter contents, some of which are quite lengthy, talk of all sorts of interesting subjects of the time, and are well worth a read for the historian. Faults to varying degrees and one cover has a missing stamp, still an interesting glimpse into early Victoria and the Morgan couple. our second picture shows the contents of just one letter (each page is double-sided).
