The 2d has a single with a shifted watermark, various plate blocks and Campbell Paterson (L4d, L4d, L4f, L04b) and several "Official" overprinted plate blocks. Overall fine to very fine.

464 og/nh 190-191, 208-209 image1935 3d Maori Girl and 4d Mitre Peak Mint Offering, with Both Watermarks plus Officials, the 3d has an inverted watermark from the second printing. The 4d includes plate blocks, different perforations, and inverted second watermark in a block, plus a plate #3 block of the official. Overall fine to very fine.

465 og/nh 192-193, 210-211 image1935 5d Swordfish and 6d Harvesting Mint Offering, the 5d includes two perforations of the first watermark and three of the second, plus a Plate 2 lower left block (CP L8f). The 6d includes different watermarks, perforations, and a "cracked plate" corner block (catalogues NZ$400 in Campbell Paterson). There are different printings and both positions of the "Official" overprint. Overall fine to very fine.

466 O/og/nh 194-196, 212-214 image1935 8d Tuatara, 9d Maori Panel and 1sh Tui Mint Offering, the 8d has both watermarks (the second with both sideways and vertical), different perforation and the Official in both perfs. The 9d has both shades, both sizes and both watermarks, a mint block with "one black bar" in the selvage and includes the good 9d green "Official" overprint. The 1sh Tui (bird) has the different watermarks, the perf 14 x 13½ comb plate block "A1" with a scarce plate single from the perf 12 x 13½ (block catalogues NZ$800 in C.P.) and a single each from the 4 different "Official" overprints (the last is used). 469 og/nh 198, 216 image1935-42 3sh Mount Cook Mint Study Group, with singles of both perforations of the first watermark, and the 14-13 x 13½ perforation of the second watermark with both regular and inverted watermark (catalogues NZ$360 in CP). There is a sky re-entry of L14f(Y) as well as a plate block of comb perf 14¼ x 13½ and a plate 1 block for the perf 14-13 x 13½ (L14d - which catalogues NZ$800 as an intact corner block). 471 og/nh 215 var image1936-42 2sh Olive Green Captain Cook, Group of Mint Second Watermark Issues, a nice offering of singles in different perforations, a plate number pair, a couple of "CAPTAIN COQK" varieties, a bottom plate strip with CP-listed varieties from row 10 (positions 10, 11, 12), and a plate 3 block of L13g. Overall fine to very fine.

472 E/P   image1930 Trial Air Mail Specimen Overprint Essay on 3d Turquoise King George V Imperforate Stamp with vertical "SPECIMEN" overprint, authorized to become the first air mail stamp of New Zealand, the post office anticipated using an overprinted stamp, but before the prepared trials were authorized, they direction changed and a set of three stamps was issued in 1931 (Scott C1-C3). The entire supply of 3d Turquoise stamps was destroyed. The "NZ Stamp Collector" reports that there are a few copies being held by the New Zealand Post Office and that this may be the only copy known to be in a private collection. A must have item for any serious New Zealand, King George V, or Air Mail stamp collection.

473 og/nh O45 var image1916 2d Yellow King George V Overprinted Official, Dramatically Misperforated, a mint block of four with a significantly misplaced group of line perfs, which somehow made it through both the inspection of the production for the original stamp and the overprinting process. Very eye catching error, offered with a normal mint block of four. Fine-very fine.

The plate block alone catalogues NZ$1,250 in Campbell Paterson. One of the singles is very lightly hinged, rest are fresh and never hinged, and fine to very fine.

477 O   imageGroup of Revenue Overprints on King George V Stamps, including "Counterpart", "Denoting", "Fine Paid" and "Mortgagee's Indemnity Fee" about half are punched, most duplication appears to be because of different perfs. Includes stamps printed in strikingly different colours than the issued stamps. Best is the 3sh Admiral "Fine Paid" in the lighter shade. About half are "punch" cancelled. A rarely offered group.

480 og/nh   imageSpecialized Collection of King George V New Zealand Issues Overprinted "Niue", Scott #s 20/47 with the 2-line overprint on 3d engraved issue with a plate "19" upper corner pair, a two-perf pair (Scott #20c - cat US$225) and a single of the perf 14 x 14¼. The surface printings include blocks of the ½d, both colours of the 1½d and a 3d single. The 2½d engraved issue includes a two-perf block and a corner plate "17" block, the 3d has a corner plate "18" block, and a two-perf pair. The 6d carmine has a nice mint block, a two-perf pair and a single. The 1sh has a two-perf pair, a plate "27" block (no side selvedge), to go along with a couple of shades. The 2sh Admiral has a single of the light blue shade and a block of the darker shade on Jones paper. Much cheaper to get these eye-catching items than if they were unoverprinted, and the print numbers are much smaller. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (All Scans)
