921 O 24/83 image"The Cancellations of Newfoundland, 1865-1908" Intact 16-Page Exhibit, competed twice (BNAPEX and PHSC Symposium) and received Gold medal both times, this exhibit shows the over 150 different cork cancels of Newfoundland on stamps, their use period and location. We counted a total of 194 stamps (not counting a block of 2 on title page), all meticulously hand picked over many years for the clarity and centering of the cancels. Valuable not only for its better cancels, but for the stamp value alone, as for example we counted Scott #s25 (x3, @$450 ea.), 26 (x3, @$275 ea.), 27 (x6, @$50 ea.), 30 (x15 @$107 ea.), 33 (x4, @$190 ea.) and so many more. Only a few of the rare postmarks that are present are highlighted by the exhibitor in rose. A truly remarkable collection, showing quality strikes on stamps that are "well above the average condition" (to quote the exhibitor). A unique opportunity to acquire the work of a lifetime. Includes 5 pages of transparencies used to identify, plus synopsis pages for both exhibitions that this competed in.
