901 CVR 33 image3c Vermillion on 1871 Cover St John's to Harbor Grace, mailed in June 1871 (red despatch very light) to Harbor Grace (June receiver on front is unclear), carried from Conception Bay on the S.S. Lizzie. Franking is the rare 3c vermilion Queen Victoria, paying the domestic rate (1871.-1891) and well tied by a neat outer ring segmented cork. Owner notes that "Of 30 such reported domestic covers, this is the finest; also, the finest known 3c vermilion on cover". Very fine and ex Carnegie.

902 CVR 33 image3c Vermilion Queen Victoria (x2) on 1871 Double Rate Cover, mailed from St John's to Harbor Grace in April 1871, the stamps are tied to each other and to the cover by cork cancels. The cover flap has a red embossed advertising from John Steer, General Dealer, St John's. Very fine. A single stamp catalogues $900 on cover, owner notes that there are only 4 known covers franked like this.

906 CVR 34 image1875 Northbound Winter Mail to Fogo, mailed St John's on MAR.8.1875 to Fogo (MAR.24 receiver), carried northbound overland (16 day transit), and franked with a 3c blue Queen Victoria issue. Very fine and the only known northbound cover in the ABNC period, unreported in the 2004 Whaley census, and there are no other 3c rate covers to Fogo in the ABNC period.

908 CVR 43/57 image1897 Cover Franked with 5 Different 1896 Re-Issues, mailed from St Johnson AUG.17.1897 to St John's (same day receiver) and franked with the newly re-issued Unitrade #s 43, 47, 49, 52 and 57. Although philatelically inspired, a rarely encountered franking which shows off the new bright colours of the stamps. Very fine.

915 CVR 61 image1905 Nardini Cover with Main River Mail Bag Seal Cancel, mailed from Nardini Crossing to St John's (APR.21 receiver), with a very fine strike of the Main River mail bag seal. Carried between these two places by train, as evidenced by the APR.20.1905 N. & W. Railway T.P.O. postmark on back. Franked with a strip of three 1c green issues paying the 3c domestic letter rate (in effect 1891-1906). Pratt records only 8 such covers and this is one of only two mailed at the domestic letter rate.

Home to the Labrador coast, then transferred at Battle Harbour, Labrador, then forwarded on the S.S. Leopard to destination. Franked with 1c and 2c Royal Family issues. Very fine and very rare example of mail being transferred at Battle Harbour, Labrador to the west coast of Newfoundland.
