901 CVR 33 image3c Vermillion on 1871 Cover St John's to Harbor Grace, mailed in June 1871 (red despatch very light) to Harbor Grace (June receiver on front is unclear), carried from Conception Bay on the S.S. Lizzie. Franking is the rare 3c vermilion Queen Victoria, paying the domestic rate (1871.-1891) and well tied by a neat outer ring segmented cork. Owner notes that "Of 30 such reported domestic covers, this is the finest; also, the finest known 3c vermilion on cover". Very fine and ex Carnegie.

906 CVR 34 image1875 Northbound Winter Mail to Fogo, mailed St John's on MAR.8.1875 to Fogo (MAR.24 receiver), carried northbound overland (16 day transit), and franked with a 3c blue Queen Victoria issue. Very fine and the only known northbound cover in the ABNC period, unreported in the 2004 Whaley census, and there are no other 3c rate covers to Fogo in the ABNC period.

Carried between these two places by train, as evidenced by the APR.20.1905 N. & W. Railway T.P.O. postmark on back. Franked with a strip of three 1c green issues paying the 3c domestic letter rate (in effect 1891-1906). Pratt records only 8 such covers and this is one of only two mailed at the domestic letter rate.
