897 O/CVR   imageGroup of New Brunswick Grid Numerals on Stamps and a Cover, the 3d red imperforate cover with illegible grid numeral, but mailed from Chatham to North Sidney with the following backstamps: Sackville, Amherst, Sydney and Chatham (DEC.11.1859). Also the following seven 3d red stamps, with #s 8 (in black), 10, 10 on bisect on piece, 11, 29, 25 and one the owner marked as "36?" and #3?, as well as five 6d olive yellow stamps, with #s 7, 11 on a pair, 13, 28 with 1958 PF certificate and "3?". Last but not least, is a 1sh with #8 grid, once described by a major auction house as "reconstructed". Condition is mixed, with several faults as well as sound stamps, a useful and valuable group. 898 CVR 24, 37 imageRose Blanche Postmark on 1879 Cover, a "G.R.C & Co. / Petites, NFLD" corner card cover mailed on AUG.7.1879 to Burgeo, with "Curlew" directional marking. Franking is a 2c green perforated Codfish and a 1c brown lilac rouletted Prince of Wales, making up the 3c domestic rate, both canceled by 4-ring canceller, very fine. This is the most complete strike of the Rose Blanche double circle "fleuron" postmark, and the only one known on cover.
