162 CVR 104, etc. imageStudy Group of Admiral Cross-Border War Tax, with 7 covers and 2 picture postcards, including a very early (earliest?) cover mailed APR.9.1915 at the 3c rate (incl. an MR1 War Tax stamp) 6 days before War Tax came into effect, a patriotic cover mailed on APR.14.1915 (the day before War Tax came into effect), a cover and a card mailed on APR.15.1915 (the first day of War Tax) and a cover and a card mailed on APR.16.1915 (the day after War Tax came into effect). We note various frankings, a DEC.15.1915 incoming Soldier's O.H.M.S. cover redirected from Toronto to Illinois, a couple of corner cards, etc. Overall fine to very fine and scarce. 163 CVR 104, etc. imageStudy Group of 13 Admiral Special Delivery Covers, 10 of which were mailed to the United States, noting a 1912 Granby QC cover with US SD stamp, a 1912 cover originating in the US, with Canadian SD stamp (faulty E1) added, a 1916 cover mailed with a 2c + 1c War Tax stamp with SD rate paid with a 10c plum Admiral (scarce use), a 1921 cover mailed from Buffalo to Hamilton, with 11c in Admiral postage added, then taxed at 18c (5 Postage Due stamps added), a DEC.14.1922 3c Admiral cover franked with a 20c SD (#E2) apparently the earliest recorded use of a 20c rate to the US, an interesting 1926 cover with two 10c SD (#E1) added, and more. A very interesting lot, well written-up (a few quite extensively) which would be useful to both Special Delivery of Admiral collectors. Overall fine, with at least 3 being ex Paige, and all from the Rick Parama collection. All items scanned. Destinations include Switzerland (x4), Belgium (x2), Denmark, France (x4), Italy (x2), Iceland, Sweden (x4), Holland (x2), Germany (x2), Austria and Finland. 17 of the covers are franked with a single 8c blue Admirals, the others with combination frankings. One (faulty) cover to France was franked with only 4c and was taxed "T25" and has three 50c French Postage Due stamps added. Another (faulty) cover is registered to Austria from Fort San, Saskatchewan and is franked at 18c (8c + 10c registration). 172 CVR 141-145 imageCollection of 17 Covers Franked with 1927 Confederation Anniversary Issues, noting two unsealed covers mailed at the 1c printed matter rate, a registered stationery cover uprated with a block of four of the 1c (mailed within the 1st month of usage), a triple weight registered cross-border cover, a 2c franking to Douglas Fairbanks, a 2c cover uprated with a 2c Admiral Toronto experimental coil stamp, three registered stationery covers (one to England, one to USA and one domestic), a cover to Switzerland and France, a registered cover to Germany, a 5c (plus 2c Admiral) mailed to the US on the first day of the new 5c Airmail rate (front only, mailed before the first Airmail stamp was issued), a single 12c on a first flight from Montréal (JUL.5.1927) to Vancouver, with the appropriate Dead Letter Office datestamp on back, and a 1928 Airmail Special Delivery cross border cover with #s C1 and E3. 175 CVR/PC   imageExtensive Collection of Postal Stationery, QV to QEII, in two volumes plus two shoeboxes. The volumes contain a collection of about 500 unused (plus a few used) cards, envelopes, wrappers, Air Letters, etc. QV era is well represented with 55 cards (mostly different, with reply cards, shades, UPU, etc.) and 3 wrappers, King Edward VII shows 18 cards, and so on for the other reigns, with lots of variety, and in many cases some light duplication. One shoebox contains several hundred more items, many of which are modern picture postcards with matching stamp, all the way back to Queen Victoria envelopes. There is also a shoebox of mostly unused modern material, with little duplication. A great lot for collectors or dealers alike, with many better items throughout.
