Griqualand West1877-79 "G" OverprintsType numbers quoted in this and the following sections are those by Stanley Gibbons. There are
sub-types of Types 1, 2, 7 and 12 and when quoted these are used by H.R. Holmes in his article in the London Philatelist, November 1962, etc.1877-78 First Printing in black on 1d. and red on other values1d. carmine-red selection comprising Types 1a.
(3), 1b (2, one in a vertical pair with 6 from the right-hand pane), 2b (very rare, occurring once only per sheet of two panes) in vertical pair with 3 from the left-hand pane, 3 (3, one with wing-margin), 4, 5 (2, one with wing-margin) and 6 (3),
