141 imageMexico. 1864 "Eagles" Issue. Chihuahua ½r. Lilac, 1r. Blue (both consignment 169-1865), and 2r. Yellow (#50-1866) trio of mint blocks of four, along with a 4r. Green (#169-1865) mint block of ten. All are very fresh with vibrant colors and margins all around (slightly touching on the left side of the 4r.), the majority n.h., with the ½r. showing a spectacular plate crack. Very few Chihuahua stamps were used because the Liberals controlled this district for most of the time. Scott 20, 21, 23, 24, $1,340 as singles with hinge (all are n.h.)., , (Image1)

This stamp does not have the overprint but is cancelled in Allende. Mepsi no opinion. Potentially a new discovery. As recorded in the Pietsch census, only one single example and one cover are known. 2024 MEPSI certificate. Scott 21; NF$900 with the sub-office overprint.

Yellow 3rd Period, #233-1864, with Guichapa manuscript cancel. The 1r. blue stamps are San Juan de Guadalupe and unused #158-1864. The back of the cover has some minor areas of missing paper, but this is insignificant and does not affect the front; it is mentioned only for accuracy. A very rare item with an unusual cut of the split, further enhanced by the great freshness exhibited. Sold in 2004 for $9,500 + commission. MEPSI certificate. Scott 25f, $15,000. (Image1)
