325			Mexico. 1872 "Hidalgos". Tixtla 25c. Red (#11-72), faint blind perforations at the bottom showing an attempt to be perforated, good margins all around, used on cover. The only perforated stamp from this district recorded by NF is the 6c, and it is unpriced as it rarely appears on the market. This unlisted 25c. is therefore extremely rare, probably unique on cover. Veracruz Group of almost 40 mainly used stamps, nine covers including one cover front, neatly mounted on presentation pages (# 50-72 to 50-74 consignments) with different consignment years 1872-74 each in a row, with no duplication. Stamps include 6c.-100c., as well as five "Papel Sellado" or "La Croix Frères" watermarks, varieties such as overprint corrections (#20 over #50), double overprint or missing year in the overprint. The cancellations include Alvarado, Coapilla, Chicaltianguis, Jáltipan, Otatitlán, Fortín, San Andrés Tuxtla, Tuxtepec, Tlaxicoyan, Tuxpan, Veracruz and Paso del Macho. Among the covers, the better items exhibit handstamps from Coapilla, Tuxtepec, Alvarado, Tlacotalpam, Paso del Macho and Veracruz (with a colorful 50c. yellow). Good condition throughout with many stamps with three or four margins. The 25c. "La Croix" has a nick in the right margin; NF and Scott (for watermarked stamps) is $1,881 for the stamps off cover. Zacatecas Group of 48 imperforate stamps mostly used and four magnificent covers neatly mounted on presentation pages (consignment # 51) with different consignment years 1872-74 each in a row, with no duplication. Stamps include 6c.-100c., as well as four "Papel Sellado" or "La Croix Frères" watermark. The covers are in pristine condition and are from small towns: Chalchihuites, San Miguel del Mezquital, Nieves and Saint Alto. The stamps include cancels from many small towns: Villa Garcia, Sierra Hermosa, Sombrerete, Villa Ortega, Mazapil, Tlaltenango, Saint Alto, Valparaiso, Xeres, Carro, Fresnillo, San Mateo and Pinos. Red imperforate with neat Ojo Caliente h.s. tied to a pristine entire letter to Mexico City dated August 21, 1873; the other, to Zacatecas, is franked by 12c. vertical imperforate pair, untied, with cancellation heavily inked but being unrecorded for this issue.
