301 Used   imageMexico. 1872 "Hidalgos". Orizava, Otumba Group of 31 stamps, all but one are imperforate, mostly used, and two 25c. Red covers, neatly mounted on presentation pages (consignments #31 and #32), with different consignment years 1872-74 each in a row, with no duplication, including denominations from 6c. to 100c., as well as three stamps with the "Papel Sellado" watermark. Cancels include Zongolica, Orizaba, Huatusco, and Otumba. One of the highlights is a beautiful 12c. Blue, canceled in Otumba, accompanied by a 1980 MEPSI certificate. The collection also includes the consignment error "29" instead of "31". Very fine for the most part, with many stamps having three or four clear margins. 303 Used   imageMexico. 1872 "Hidalgos". Pachuca, Tampico Assembly comprising 33 stamps (two are perforated), mostly used, along with a 25c. Red on cover, neatly mounted on presentation pages (consignments #33 and #34), with different consignment years 1872-74 each in a row, with no duplication, including one piece to New York, featuring a British stamp posted at the British agency in Tampico. The cover is particularly attractive and scarce, featuring a perfectly struck Soto La Marina cancel. The stamps include denominations from 6c. to 100c., as well as eight stamps with the "Papel Sellado" watermark. Cancellations include Tampico, Soto la Marina, Metzilcatzin, Pánuco, Mineral del Monte, and Mazatlán. Generally very fine and with good margins. The cover paid the "Extraordinario" double rate for express service, and is beautifully addressed with blue ink. Gray Lilac imperforate (#36-73), slightly cut into at right, otherwise good margins, tied by two faint h.s. to registered cover front from Saltillo to Mazatlán on April 28, 1874. Postal rules required the recipient to sign the front of registered mail as proof of receipt, after which it was sent back to the originating office and destroyed two years later, with this explaining why so few examples remain today. San Luis Potosí Group of over 30 imperforate stamps, used, and with two covers, neatly mounted on presentation pages (consignment #37) with different consignment years 1872-74 each in a row, with no duplication. Denominations range from 6c. to 100c., including six stamps with the “Papel Sellado” or “La Croix” watermark. Cancellations feature Saltillo and several small towns: Jaral, Cedral, Guadalupe, Guadalcázar, Ciudad del Maíz, and Charcas. One cover is scarce -a 50c. Yellow tied to cover to Zacatecas (#37-72)- while the other bears a 25c. Red (#37-73) canceled in Charcas. Margins on both covers are tight. The group also includes a beautiful 6c.
