289 Used   imageMexico. 1872 "Hidalgos". Mexico District Assembly comprising 41 mainly perforated stamps and three covers (incl. one with a rare "Diligencias de Cuernavaca" h.s.). The stamps, largely used, are neatly mounted on presentation pages (consignment 1) with different consignment years (1872–74) and without duplication. This display includes all denominations from 6c. to 100c., as well as eight examples bearing the "Papel Sellado" or "La Croix Frères" watermarks. Both Gothic and semicircular overprints are represented, along with a scarce 13c. Blue showing no consignment numbers. Notable cancels include "Certificado" and "B" (buzón/drop mailbox), and there is a consignment error "37" for "73". In predominantly very fine condition, mainly showing good margins. Also displayed one 100c. labeled as having the "La Croix Frères" watermark, which may or may not be present (thus counted as unwatermarked). Morelia Assembly comprising 50 imperforate stamps, mostly used, on attractive presentation pages (consignment #29), with different consignment years (1872–74) arranged in rows without duplication, including denominations from 6c. to 100c., with seven examples bearing the "Papel Sellado" or "La Croix Frères" watermarks. A complete set from 6c. to 100c. is present, including the consignment error "31" for "29". Many stamps show cancellations from small towns such as Río, Zamora, Puruándiro, Cotija, Parácuaro, Pátzcuaro, Penjamillo, Huacama, Tangacícuaro, and Taretan. The lot also features two attractive unused multiples of the 6c. Green: a block of ten and a strip of five. Condition is generally very fine, with many stamps showing three or four clear margins.
