1854 6kr black and yellow vertical pair, on entire folded letter sent from Basel to Mannheim with top stamp tied by circular BASEL BRIEFEXPEDITION 24 Jan. 59, sent by Baden Bahnpost to Mannheim, to the left of the stamps was written
“ungültig” (later partially erased), taxed 3kr for Swiss distance and then 9kr, corresponding to the franking, corrected to 4 décimes for franking from Switzerland. A unique letter for which the sender sought to prepay the Swiss postage with a Baden
stamp. Illustrated in the Brack Handbuch as a rare usage of the Mi 7; the stamps are fine but slightly touched in two places and affected by a letter fold at bottom. Certificate Scheller (2024).(Image 1)
