1861: Sardinia 20 c. 'celeste grigiastro', an irregular block of 14 from the field positions 36-39 / 41-45 / 46-50 of the printing sheet of 50 (5 x 10), touched at left and right but with the exception of a
filing fold through the lower row a fresh mutliple, well embossed showing some irregular ink between the lower and upper parts of the multiple, glued upside-down on a letter and cancelled / tied by six central strikes of the
straight-line handstamp of the Papal State's Post Office of CAMERINO (unlisted for usage on Sardinian stamps). One of the largest multiples recorded of this adhesive, a most interesting combination of Sardinian adhesives and Papal
obliterator, cert. Colla (2001) Sassone = € 14'000+ for a used block of four. Note: In autumn 1860, the Marche including Camerino being part of the Papal States had been occupied by troops of Sardinia and they became formally part of the newly established Kingdom of Italy in March 1861. The use of the straight-line CAMERINO is known for a very long time, even on DLR adhesives, but interestingly not on Sardinian ones. (Image 1)
