4190 **/*/bof image1873/80: 1 s. green, plate 13, wmk. Spray, AI/EL, an unused pane of
twenty subjects of fine fresh colour, full margins all round and
showing Plate Number 13 at top right, full imprints in margin at
base and showing the watermark in sheet margin "MARK" and
"Postage", some nibbed wing marginal perfs. at left and top left
stamp with rounded wing marginal perf., some typical horizontal and
diagonal creasing largely unapparent on face, the stamps with full
unmounted original gum. A magnificent and extremely rare multiple
Gi = £ 10'000++. Remark: For the 1873/80, 1s green, only four panes
of 20 are known to survive. None are recorded for plates 8, 9, 10
or 11. Instead, two panes each are known from plates 12 and 13.
From the two panes from plate 13, one lettered PI/TL is incomplete,
having lost its lower and right sheet margins; it is not available
for collectors and is illustrated in the Philips collection, N.P.M.
London, vol. XXXIV, page 13. The only remaining complete pane from
plate 13 in private hands, lettered AI/EL, is offered now.
