ink, WIEN and TRIEST transit as well as CATTARO arrival (Oct 6)
backstamps. Entire slitted for disinfection of unknown origin,
damaging the stamp at right. Stamps with filing folds, nevertheless

by "ALSTERGRUND WIEN", "P.P." handstamp alongside, thimble VARNA
and CONSTANTINOPEL transit as well as SYRA arrival (July 30,
julian) backstamps. Upon arrival charged with '20' lepta in red
crayon, franked with 1871-1872 printing 20 l. blue (Hellas 35a)
tied by SYRA cds. File folds aside the franking, the adhesives

Lyon with 35 soldi franking, 1873 23 soldi franking to Livorno,
1874 postal stationery envelope 15 s. brown to Vienna, a rare usage
in the Levant, 1874 two covers to Vienna and Liebeschitz Bohemia
with Lloyd Agenzie Constantinopoli cancellations, 1875 to Nettstal
Switzerland, the 20 soldi franking tied by framed "LETTERE ARIVATE
/ PER MARE / VARNA" datestamp, 1875 to Vienna with cancellation
with wreathed CONSTANTINOPEL, 1875 Meteline via Constantinople &
Varna to Trieste, an unsual routing, and finally 1875 to Silistria,
the 10 soldi franking tied by very late September usage of the
framed "LETTERE ARIVATE / PER MARE / VARNA" datestamp, despatched
after the foundation of the GPU but with all characteristics of a
pre-GPU cover incl. FRANCO handstamp. The covers in mixed condition
as to be expected, nevertheless a large variety of interesting

(2), one pair and entire letters/covers (11) all to or from Ulcinj
(Dulcigno), Kotor (Cattaro) or Erceg Novi (Castelnuovo) including
1867/74 Fine whiskers 10 s. blue (Mi. 4), two singles and a
horizontal pair on small piece, each lightly cancelled by "DULCIGNO
/ SAN GIOVANNI DI MEDUA" cds (Tchilinghirian fig. 469) used only
between 1879 and 1881 an 1860 registered official letter from
Palma, Lombardy, somewhat vaguely adressed to "Castelnuovo",
missent to Herceg Novi with manuscript "maldiretta" and clear
"CASTELNUOVO / JLLIRIEN / 12 MAR" arrival, readressed to
Castelnuovo del Garda near Verona where the letter couldn't be
delivered either, was endorsed "non esiste Pretura in Castelnuovo
Veronese" and finally readressed to Castelnovo near Vicenza, an
1868 postal receipt with clear strike of "CASTELNUOVO IN DALMAZIA 2
/ 2" cds. in purple, an 1857 official letter from Kotor endorsed
"Piloto Portuale in Cattaro" as well as five incoming items
including an 1813 entire from Venice to Dobrota with manuscript "da
Venezia" in brown ink and italic "Venezia" handstamp and an 1836
cover from Russia to Kotor. An interesting group, primarily in good
