addressed in arabic "please transmit, by respectable hands, to my
good friend Al Hajj Mohammed Qasim", the stamps tied by two fine
strikes of Sana'a negative seal (Type 2) with Hegira dating 1345 =
1929 in black. File fold well away from the adhesives but scarce.

209 bof/(*) image1926: 2½ b. black on orange vertically laid paper, imperforate, an
unused complete sheet of 20 subjects (5 x 4), with full sheet
margins all round, showing "BEST DUTCH MAKE" watermark, the sheet
in a very deep unusual shade with evidence of the colour having
been brushed onto the paper. Minor creases and tiny pinhole but a
remarkable and rare sheet, probably from an extremely early
printing as many of the normal frame flaws are unapparent. A rarity
Gi = £ 1'800+. Provenance: Collection Angus Parker, Cavendish,

describer's opinion that the 2½ b. value in orange was issued for
just thius purpose - to frank Newspapers - as the 2½ b. in white
would have been difficult to see if not applied at the top of the
