Colony of Canada 1851/60: Collection on twenty-seven album pages, comprising plate proofs, unused and used examples, and covers. Includes 1851 Prince Albert 6 d. slate-violet, four margins with RPSL
certificate (SG 2), and a study page of eight 6 d. plate proofs, including a block of four on thick card, some overprinted “SPECIMEN” vertically; 6 d. slate-violet, three margins, used on cover to New York (SG 9). Cartier 10 d. well
represented with a block of four plate proofs in yellow-orange, 10 d. dull blue, three margins, on cover to London (SG 14), together with three trial colour proofs and further examples including a four-margin used (SG 20).
Additional material includes 6 d. yellow-green four margins used (SG 12), 1859 12 c. pale yellow-green unused (SG 40), and 1859 10 c. Consort in a range of shades used (SG 33–36), with a good range of cents issue proofs throughout.
Also includes a page of Newfoundland 1857/64 issues (SG 1–34) and a page of early Nova Scotia. Condition somewhat mixed, though many fine to very fine; a useful and interesting group with strength in proofs and classic issues. (Image 1)
