6224 cover imageIncoming "Triple Combination" cover 1876/77 (Dated 1293): Tabet
Issue Shahi value printed in sandy-brownish shade, used on reverse
of India ½ a. blue postal stationery envelope from Kashmir to
Kabul, bearing Kashmir 1867 ½ a. ultramarine imperforate, fault at
base, tied in red and by manuscript pen cross, the stationery
indicia cancelled in transit at Sialkot by "SEALKOTE" duplex (May
10) in black, with Rawalpindi octagonal transit datestamp in black
(May 14) and Peshawar cds of the following day. Tablet Type Shahi
(position 21) applied and tied by red oily smear in Peshawar and by
sword manuscript in black probably upon arrival. Of the few (less
than ten, some being incomplete) triple country combination covers,
this is almost certainly the finest. An outstanding combination
usage prepaying the correct rate for all three postal
administrations and an exceptionally rare usage of the Tablet issue
on letter. Provenance: Collection Horst Dietrich, DF, Geneva, 17
Nov 2003, lot 10186. (Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)
