6184 cover image1873/74 (Dated 1290) Shahi black, Plate A, in a horizontal pair
(positions 13-14) with position 13 retouched Lion and left ornament
(Jack type 3) and position 14 retouched with inner circle complete
in combination with 1871/72 (Dated 1288) Sanar black, Plate C,
position 14, a cut round example, used on cover from Kabul to
Bhera, India with all three stamps cancelled by bites at base and
by Peshawar cds (Oct 21), Jhelum datestamp (Oct 22) and Bhera
arrival (Oct 23) in black. Obverse with single India 1873 ½ a. blue
tied by barred numeral. An extremely scarce combination usage with
the 1288 issue and most unusual. Note: The rate overpayment on the
Afghan side is unusual as the India ½ anna was deemed enough upon
arrival. The 1288 Sanar black appears to have been re-used as the
Lion shows a partial "tamma". Provenance: G. Alevizos, Santa
