1687 image1958/59: Shanahan's Stamp Auctions Ltd. – Collection of Auction Catalogues. An incomplete run of auction catalogues from sale 72 (August 1958) to sale 102 (June 1959), including sale 99, which was stolen, and sale 102 (Burrus – Great Britain & Netherlands), which never took place. The catalogues are in good condition, comprising a total of 21 volumes. Additionally included is The Catalogue of the Postage Stamps Stolen from Shanahan's Stamp Auctions on the Night of 9th/10th May 1959, published by Robson Lowe Ltd. on behalf of the liquidator. This edition, with accompanying photo plates, is hardbound in brown cloth and in good condition. Two further examples of this catalogue are present: one hardbound in brown cloth and one in its original issued format, both in good condition. As a suppplement added is the auction catalogue for sale 98/99, which was never held, in fair condition. Roosevelt Collection (Parts 1 and 2), bound in half-leather with prices realised, in fair condition. 1690 image1981/99: CHRISTIE'S - A faboulous collection of auction catalogues housbound ex Christies/Spink New York office in various coloured cloth, with realisations, covering multiple locations and periods. The Zurich sales from March 1993 to March 1996 are bound in two grey volumes, while the Singapore auctions from May 1993 to June 1999 are in four blue volumes. The Hong Kong catalogues from October 1993 to November 1999 are housed in six yellow volumes, and the Melbourne sales from October 1990 to October 1995, as well as 1999, are in two black volumes. London auctions are divided into several categories: Foreign sales from April 1993 to December 1999 in six green volumes, Great Britain sales from March 1994 to June 1999 in six maroon volumes, British Empire sales from September 1993 to December 1999 in eleven red volumes, and British Empire & Foreign auctions from February 1991 to June 1993 in seven blue volumes. The New York catalogues span two periods, with sales from September 1991 to November 1999 in nine maroon volumes and an earlier series from September 1981 to June 1996 in twenty-two black numbered volumes.. All in excellent condition. Total: 75 volumes. 2180 cover image1850: Carta a mano 15 c. rosso type III, a fine and fresh example with good to large margins in a vivid shade, tied by "MILANO 3 / 5" cds to 1854 entire telegraphic despatch letter to Milano with the stock market prices from Vienna, further sent by regular mail to Como, "CAMERA DI COMMERCIO ED INDUSTRIA / DELLA PROV. DI MILANO" handstamp alongside, reverse with COMO arrival cds of the following day. The 'dispaccio telegrafico' was the only possibility to transfer information from Vienna to Milano on the same day. 2181 cover image1850: Carta a mano 45 c. azzuro type III, a fine example with narrow margins, tied by "FELDPOST N: 3 21 / 6" Fieldpost cds to 1855 envelope with large honorific address from Ancona directed to Georg Freiherr von Ramberg, the commander of the fortress Theresienstadt, reverse with THERESIENSTADT arrival cds (June 27). The cover with some toning and spotting, nevertheless a most interesting cover. Note: Georg Heinrich Freiherr von Ramberg (1786-1855) was an Austrian officer involved in the Napoleonic Wars, he played also a key role in the siege of Vienna during the October Uprising of 1848.
