6316 (*) imageCourvoisier Proofs 1958/67: An accumulaton of 69 imperforate Flower issue proofs stuck down on pages from the company's archival records including 1958 unissued design of three progressive proofs and a final colour proof, four different final colours (16 proofs, this page inscribed 'Hélio-essais sans suite') and with similar for issues 1960/62, 1964 and 1967, this with one set of four progressive proofs with red line through designs denoting not issued. 1153 cover image1826/27: Entire letters (7) all written from Calcutta to one of the heroes of the Battle of Waterloo, Lt. Col. Edward Kelly (1774-1828) serving in India and Burma with the 23rd Light Dragoons with five entire letters sent between 23 Sept 1826 and 11 August 1827 to Moulmein, Burma each struck with good to very fine strikes of circular "CALCUTTA / GENERAL POST OFFICE" handstamps in black on reverse with dates in manuscript; together with two later entires from 1828 locally used with oval G.P.O. datestamps of Calcutta in black. A remarkable group. Note: Lt. Col. Edward Kelly was a hero of the Battle of Waterloo, he was credited with cutting down a Colonel of the French lancers during the retreat from Quatre Bras and killing another Colonel of the Cuirassiers in the final charge at Waterloo (for his bravery he was awarded the Russian Order of St. Anne. He died in India in 1828 and is buried at Mullye. (Image 1)

Oriental" to Suez, "S.S. Valetta" from Alexandria to Marseilles; via London (Aug 2) with "2/3d." rate deleted, thence via Cunard Line Steamer "R.M.S. America" from Liverpool to Boston where struck with fine "75" (cents) due handstamp in black for the ½ ounce rate. reverse with "BOSTON / BR. PKT." cds in black (Aug 17). 1155 cover image1852 (July): "Scinde District Dawk" embossed ½ a. blue, imperforate in a resonant sky-blue shade, a used example with large even margins all round, small surface abrasion at base of stamp, tied to large piece of native cover with attached piece of paper addressed to Karachi, tied by fine strike of barred "96" obliterator of Hyderabad in black. (31 Dec, 1931) endorsed carried by the homing pigeon "Eastern Sun", it too with corresponding missive, also with unused label "A Massage From H.E. the Viceroy / By Homing Pigeon", with mis-spelling of "Message", noted and signed on back "The Error / Stephen H.
