7072 cover image1855ca (Sept 6): Registered envelope from Oberleitensdorf / Horní Litvínov to Vienna, forwarded to Dornbach nearby Vienna, bearing on front 6 kr. brown type III and three single examples of 9 kr. blue type IIIb on machine paper, four fine and fresh examples with good to large margins, each adhesive tied by clear OBERLEITENSDORF single circle datestamp (Müller 1966a / Votoček 1648 E.1), "RECOM:" handstamp alongside, reverse with TEPLITZ transit and WIEN arrival cds's. The cover shows the registration fee franked on obverse which is rarely seen and may be related to the fact, that the cover was first franked only for the third weight rate while the 6 kreuzer adhesive was added later on after the 9 kreuzer stamps had already been obliterated. The cover was opened in Vienna, but closed again, resealed, put back in the postal system and sent forward to Dornbach. For this second part of the journey it was taxed with '3' kreuzer, a rate which is not understandable for the desciber. A wonderful piece of postal history Ferchenbauer = € 6'000. Note: The receiver was Wilhelm von Haidinger (1795 Wien - 1871 Dornbach), the most famous Austrian geologist and mineralogist of his time. The honorific address shows his titles, among others he was director of the „kaiserlich-königlichen geologischen Reichsanstalt“ in Vienna and member of the "k.k. Akademie der Wissenschaften".
