7050 cover imageRegistered letter despatched twice 1854 (June 26): Registered Cover from Königsek / Kunžak to Teltsch / Telč, bearing on front a single example and pair of 1 kr. orange-ochre and on reverse a pair of 3 kr. red, both on handmade paper in type III and IIIa, respectively, fair to huge margins all round, the 1 kreuzer adhesives on front tied by "KÖNIGSEK 26 / 7" cds, the rightmost single and the pair on reverse tied by KÖNIGSEK cds of the next day, the cover on front and on reverse with in total twelve strikes of the straight-line "RECOM:" handstamp, on reverse in addition NEUHAUS from 26 and 27 June and "IGLAU 27/6". The 1 kreuzer pair touched at the lower right corner, all adhesives on front crossed by a horizontal filing fold, the pair on reverse in immaculate condition, an impressive item full of postal history. Cert. Ferchenbauer (2018). Note 1: The cover was first despatched and franked correctly for a cover of ½ loth as noted in red crayon on front, while it was not franked for the registration fee of 6 kreuzer. This was noticed lateron, presumably in Neuhaus / Jindřichův Hradec, and the letter returned to Königsek where the pair of 3 kr. red was added to the reverse and tied by the matching datestamp of 27 June. Thereafter the letter could make its way to its addressee, countess Amalia Podstatzky-Liechtenstein (1805 Vienna - 1864 Teltsch). Note 2: In manuscript "Datschitz" (Dačice) is give as place of origin of this letter. Interestingly Datschitz is located more nearby the place of destination Teltsch than the place of despatch in Königsek. (Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)
