765 cover image1854 (Dec 27): Entire letter from San Francisco to Capt. Isaac Graham (1800-1863) at Santa Cruz struck with "SAN FRANCISCO / CAL / 5" cds (Dec 28) in black. The letter with interesting content "Mr. King attended the U.S. Land Commission tuesday last and eished to submit the case of the Syant (Zayante) Ranch but the law agent would not consent. The law agent has fixed subpoenas for the following witnesses: Thomas C. Byrd, Roman Rodriguez, Francisco Rodriguez, Mrs Mary Love. These witnesses are summoned to be here on the 8th and the 13th January 1855....". Fascinating letter to an original "Mountain Man" and fur trader, who fought at the Battle of Pierre's Hole in 1832. In 1836 Graham led a group of American and European immigrants in a coup against the Mexicoan Governor of California and in 1840 Graham and approximately 100 others were arrested and sent for trial in Tepic leading to both a diplomatic crisis and the eventual annexation of California by the United States after the War of 1848(Image 1) (Image 2)

770 imageLots & Collections 1850/2005ca: Collection of USA in six albums, highlighted by two file folders filled with covers dating from the 19th century onwards, many addressed to Europe. Notable items include a $1 Farragut (Scott #311) on cover and a 50-cent Zeppelin stamp on a flight cover. Four albums or stock books comprise both used and unused stamps, featuring duplicates in the 'back of the book' section (officials, parcel post stamps, etc.), and unused stamps suitable for postage. A similar, but smaller collection of Canada added, it is organised into two albums: one for covers and another for stamps, plus yearbooks for 1987 and from 2000 to 2005(Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3) (Image 4) (Image 5) (Image 6) (Image 7) (Image 8) (Image 9) (Image 10) (Image 11) (Image 12) (Image 13) (Image 14) (Image 15) (Image 16) (Image 17) (Image 18) (Image 19) (Image 20) (Image 21) (Image 22)

771 image1850/2017: This extensive accumulation spans seven stock-books, the first stock book organized like a dealer stock with each Scott number assigned its own row. The 19th-century issues vary in condition and are primarily used, highlighted by some fancy cancellations and a almost decent $1 Columbus issue. The lot expands into many stamps from later general issues, including blocks and imperforates. Modern stock-books are richly filled with booklets and coil strips, making them ideal for both philatelic interests and as discount postage. Additionally, there is a selection of State Duck stamps from 1984, alongside a similar assortment of Federal Ducks. Another thin stock book contains a consistent selection of 'back of the book' material, featuring newspaper and periodical stamps, a range of duplicated official stamps. Furthermore a small accumulation that includes revenues, facsimiles, and sheets on stockcard and in cases(Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3) (Image 4) (Image 5) (Image 6) (Image 7) (Image 8) (Image 9) (Image 10) (Image 11) (Image 12) (Image 13) (Image 14) (Image 15) (Image 16) (Image 17) (Image 18) (Image 19) (Image 20) (Image 21) (Image 22) (Image 23) (Image 24) (Image 25) (Image 26) (Image 27) (Image 28) (Image 29) (Image 30) (Image 31) (Image 32) (Image 33) (Image 34) (Image 35) (Image 36) (Image 37) (Image 38) (Image 39) (Image 40) (Image 41) (Image 42) (Image 43) (Image 44) (Image 45) (Image 46) (Image 47) (Image 48) (Image 49) (Image 50)

772 image1851/1976: Fine old-style unused collection housed in a Yvert preprinted album. Starting with various classics in slightly mixed condition such as Franklin and Washington 1851, including a 90 c. Washington 1857, 15 c., 24 c., 30 c. from the 1869 issue, 90 c. Perry carmine, and 90 c. Perry violet. It features a full set of Columbus 1993, a full set of Omaha, and more. The 19th-century stamps are in very mixed condition, with some imperforates having imperfect margins and some stamps lacking gum nevertheless they are often signed (e.g. Roig). The condition of the 20th-century stamps improves decade by decade, with many never hinged examples, including the complete Zeppelin set. Several blank pages showcase some specialisation. 773 image1851/1977: Extensive old-style collection, predominantly unused. Early issues are incomplete, but from 1882 onwards, the collection is nearly complete for general issues, excluding the $2 Omaha. On the other hand it features the complete famous 1893 Columbus set. The condition ranges from no gum, mounted, to perfectly unused and mint never hinged. The collection includes a substantial section of newspaper stamps and a noteworthy selection of officials, though some gaps are typical in these areas. Additionally, there is a section of postage due stamps. The collection is housed in a Spanish preprinted 'Philos' album, indicating that it was likely assembled in Spain. Many of the stamps are signed by Roig, a renowned Spanish stamp dealer thus. 3 certificates(Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3) (Image 4) (Image 5) (Image 6) (Image 7) (Image 8) (Image 9) (Image 10) (Image 11) (Image 12) (Image 13) (Image 14) (Image 15) (Image 16) (Image 17) (Image 18) (Image 19) (Image 20) (Image 21) (Image 22) (Image 23) (Image 24) (Image 25) (Image 26) (Image 27) (Image 28) (Image 29) (Image 30) (Image 31) (Image 32) (Image 33) (Image 34) (Image 35) (Image 36) (Image 37) (Image 38) (Image 39)

Housed in specialized Lighthouse preprinted albums, the collection includes a range of perforation types and coil stamps. Highlights include a strong air mail section with a full set of 'Zep' stamps, comprehensive sections of postage due, special delivery, the complete set of US Post Office issues in Shanghai, and a complete range of Federal Duck stamps. Additionally, there is an extra page with surplus stamps. The collection comprehensively covers Postal Note Stamps, Parcel Post Stamps, Special Handling Stamps, Official Savings Mail, the 1911 Registration stamp, and the 1955 Certified stamp. The stamps are neatly organized on preprinted album pages with mounts.
