Reverse with "Tegucigalpa" transit datestamp, New Orleans cds (Oct 29) and Bern arrival (Nov 11). Some unsuprising edge wear to envelope but of great rarity - an unusual destination for early Honduran mail, the sole such usage and largest number of Morazan issue stamps known on a cover. Unique. 591 cover image1878: Morazan 1 c. pale violet (6 examples), 2 c. deep brown (10 examples, one is sheet imprint marginal) and single 1 r. deep green, all used on spectacular 1884 double rate registered AR cover (1 c. overpaid) to R.R. Bogert in New York and tied by negative 'star in circle' handstamps struck in blue, and by oval "REPUBLIQUE DE HONDURAS / BUREAU POSTAL D'ÉXCHANGE / TEGUCIGALPA" datestamps (Aug 20) in violet when 1 c. and two 2 c. were added to make up the rate; registration cachet "REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS / R" in violet at left. Reverse with New York arroval (Sept 15) in violet. One or two minor imperfections and central file fold but these are of a trifling nature - this being one of the most spectacular and rare of all Honduran classic covers. Cert. Moorhouse (2000). Stamp tied by negative cancel 'star in cercle' and by arrival cds "PARIS 8 MAI 92", cover endorsed 'BANCO DE HONDURAS TEGUCIGALPA' on the reverse. 2 p. and 10 p. a pair imperforate between of each and imperforate pair of each, all mounted, except 10 p. imperf. which has no gum, Scott 62 and 64. Proofs: 1 p. 5 different colours of the frames (all unissued) imperforate in large format (as for 2 p. to 10 p.) , 10 p. corner block of 16 from upper left of the sheet imperforate - and same stamp in block of 4 on white card, with guidelines; and last, 2 pairs with only frames in orange colour, two denominations 1 p. and 2 p. and 5 p. and 10 p. se tenant respectively.
