495 **/* image1871: 1 c. ochre, sheet of 150 (10x15), a remarkably well preserved pane with full selvage all around showing the oval blue 'Controle/T.P.' hand-stamp at top right, this being the right pane of the double pane sheet of 300 as printed, amazingly fresh with strong rich colour, wonderfully intact and unfolded. Full o.g., hinged in the selvedge only with all stamps unmounted except the bottom left vertical three stamps (pos 121, 131 and 141), which has hinge reinforced vertical perfs. Well centered for this very tightly spaced issue, that has barely more space than the size of the perforation holes, very fine and a marvellous choice sheet; a full sheet is the largest recorded multiple of the perforated One Centavo Ochre. 500 cover image1899: 'Champerico Provicional', vertically folded envelope endorsed 'Cia.de Agencias Champerico Limitada' bearing two provisional stamps, 10 c. and 20 c. with inscription 'Champerico Provicional' (wrong spelling), that are cancelled bei cds "CORREOS CHAMPERICO 16 ENE 1899" in violet, addressed to Hamburg, Germany, as a similar cover pictured in Goodman Handbook, page 180. Goodman states, the pictured cover was unique, while the present example has a different disposition of the stamps. The cover differs also from the Goodman example by the type of taxation, which is a handwritten mark '80' in blue. Arrival "HAMBURG 14.2.1899" and two transit cancels on the back. It appears that the stamps haven't been recognized, however emanating from the 'provisional period' at a time of great shortage of postage stamps and genuinely circulated. A rare and desirable curiosity! Ex the Brian Moorhouse Estate(Image 1) (Image 2)

Unused without gum, central file fold does not detract from the appearance of a delightful multiple. Another unused block of forty 1 c. ochre in a deep shade, from top right of sheet, with full sheet margins and centre line "+" at top, oval 'Contrôle / T.P.' in blue at upper right. Superb and fresh with just one tone spot not affecting the appearance, mounted in margins only, stamps unmounted og. A delightful and rare multiple. Same stamp, but perforated 1 c. ochre on buff, an unused block of forty (8 x 5) from the upper right corner of the sheet with oval 'Contrôle / T.P.' handstamp in blue in sheet margin, positions 3-10 / 43-50 with central guide line cross above position 5, fresh and very fine, large part or unmounted og. Ex the Brian Moorhouse Estate. Note: The Guatemalan first issue engraved by Joubert was slightly larger than the current French Cérès stamps. By using this perf. 13 x 13½ machine, the margins between the stamps had to be very narrow (1 mm.), therefore the machine inevitably cut into the sides of the stamps. The stamps were printed in sheets of 300 in two panes (10 x 15) separated by a central vertical gutter margin(Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)
