5391 imageTierra Del Fuego 1891: Popper 5 c. deep rose-red, a top marginal example used on FORGED cover to Buenos Aires tied by bold  "PARAMO" circular datestamp (6 AGT / 91) in black. The cover with framed "BUZON / 61" Buenos Aires postbox cachet (which indicates the cover was posted within Buenos Aires) on obverse and two further Buenos Aires datestamps on reverse (Aug 19). Note that the handbook "Tierra Del Fuego" by Brian Moorhouse & John West (1988) lists this amongst three covers, all addressed to Pedro Varela & Co. in Buenos Aires, which are clearly forgeries, this item being listed and illustrated on page 57.rnProvenance: Offered by David Feldman, Geneva, Nov 2003, lot 30894, (estimated at 15'000 CHF). 451 imageBelgian Congo 1929/1942, Group of four air mail covers and one postcard, sent via Sabena airlines, all originating from the Belgian Congo, three to Germany, one to Switzerland and one to Britain, neatly mounted and written-up on exhibition pages, includes a rare 1942 cover from Poko to Egham, Surrey, England, franked to 10 f. 25 c., bearing Congo and Gold Coast censors, flown between Elizabethville and Stanleyville by Sebena which connected with the service to Takoradi via Libenge, Kano, Duala and Lagos, the final leg from the Gold Coast was likely by sea and land mail, although there was a flying boat service between Lago and Hythe, a valuable selection. A magnificent document in the finest possible condition - and very probably the last such sent with the "POR EL REY" as Bolivia's Independence was secured the following year. (Image 1)
