1873/87: 2 d. lailac-mauve, Die I, a used example on 1876 entire letter to Barnsdale,
Gippsland, with interesting contents from the Penal Settlement at Pentridge, tied by Melbourne duplex (Aug 25), with Barnsdale arrival cds (Aug 29) on reverse. The entire is a two page letter with printed five line heading "Prisoners may write a
letter on arrival to their friends, and one other every three months..." and is addressed to the Superintendant of Police in Barnsdale: "Having written...concerning the property that was taken from me on my arrest...I was arrested on 24th January
1871 and received a sentence of 10 years" and the letter is then internally docketed and annotated witth the replies of the Police and stating that the prisoner's propery was sold for £7 8s. 2d. A most interesting entire. (Image 1) (Image 2)

1874: Bell Die Proof for the 2 s. design, unfinished design with lower right corner value
tablet blank, imperforate in purple-black and affixed to card (58 x 53 mm.), with manuscript below "Apprd. by PMS 21/10/74 M" in ink. It is interesting that the Postmaster General approved the design in 1874 and the stamp itself was not issued until
