This datestamp was most probably a book-keeping cancellation applied to receipts rather than a postal one. The 10 kr. red is rare on cover from Lom Palanka with Tchilinghiran & Stephen recording just one cover. Illustrated in Dr. G. Popov "Die Österreichische Levantepost in Bulgarien" on page 29 and mentioned on page 513 and illustrated on page 514 in Tchilinghirian & Stephen and in Edition D'Or volume XVIII on page 70.The sole recorded usage of the datestamp as a canceller on letter. Charged "6" kreuzer due on arrival with reverse showing "Alt-Orsova" arrival cds (Oct 1). Sensibly cleaned but a splendid cover, illustrated in Tchilinghirian on page 516 who states "Steindler has six covers with this cancellation, with just one bearing the 10 kr. red", which he retained for his collection. There are just two recorded covers bearing this marking, discussed in Tchilinghirian on page 518, the recorded covers (both dated 1863) belonging to Franz See and Edwin Müller respectively.
