10249 imagePostal Stationery 1890: South Australia Stamp Design Competition, an Essay for proposed postal stationery card, with postcard sized artwork for a 2 d. card with magnificent ornamental border and the 2 d. 'stamp' being superbly designed (and used on the issued 1 d. card) and hand-drawn and painted in India ink on art paper and recessed in a card (180 x 133 mm.). Endorsed with entrant's pseudonym "Chimborazo" at base in ink. The Design competition attracted 56 entrants who submitted over 100 designs. 10251 imagePostal Stationery 1905/11: 2 d. mauve, a used example on 1911 3 d. olive-green registered postal stationery envelope (H&G C1), registered at double rate from Adelaide to the Postmaster at Tulagi, British Solomon Islands tied by "Registered Adelaide" datestamps (Aug 22, 1912). Interestingly the reverse flaps are secured by two pieces of marginal selvedge each punctured "OS".
