2453 image1934 (18 Feb) Cover from Panchen Lama Guesthouse, Nanking to Yuncheng, f.w. Junk surch 1c/4c x5, tied by Nanking bilingual cds. Arrived Yuncheng (22 Feb). In November 1923, facing severe conflicts with the 13th Dalai Lama, the 9th Panchen Lama secretly fled Shigatse with a few close followers to ensure his safety. This northern escape marked the beginning of his 15-year journey of teaching and political work in inland China.

1934.2.18 由南京斑禪大師招待所寄運城，正背貼帆船改值1分x5，銷南京三格漢英日戳。2.22抵運城。九世班禪喇嘛於 1923年11月15日，在與十三世達賴喇嘛土登嘉措發生嚴重政教衝突、察覺自身安全受到威脅後，率領少量親信隨從，藉沐浴之期從日喀則秘密出走，向北逃亡，開啟長達15年的內地弘法與政治活動。(Image 1) (Image 2)

On Field Service cover, frankless, applied with extremely scarce Experimental PO C-22 (31 May) origin cds and Padong arrival cds (1 Jun). With original letter on the death of Lt E Hudleston. The only known On Field Service Sandbach cover. Only 4 covers of C-22 are known.
