2913 cover image1861 (5 August) entire letter from Amoy to London, endorsed “via Marseilles” and rated “1/-”, bearing a fine strike of Webb type A “AMOY PAID” datestamp in red. The letter transited through Hong Kong and arrived in London on 27 September. This AMOY pre-adhesive cover was sent prior to the introduction of Hong Kong adhesives and the sorting practices for mails from Amoy via Hong Kong, and handled entirely within the British treaty port postal network in Amoy directly. Webb recorded only eight such pre-adhesive AMOY covers bearing this distinctive red AMOY cds, making this a rare surviving example of early British treaty port correspondence from China to Europe. A good quality pre-adhesive AMOY PAID example..

1861年8月5日自廈門寄往倫敦的全張信函，信封左上手寫註明「via Marseilles」，並註記郵資「1/-」，封上蓋有清晰之Webb A型「Amoy Paid」紅色日戳。本件經香港中轉（8月），並於9月27日抵達倫敦。此為無貼票的前膠紙時期（pre-adhesive）郵件，屬於香港郵票尚未於廈門啟用前之運作模式，由英國條約港郵政系統全程處理。據Webb紀錄，僅知八件存世封蓋有此型廈門日戳，本件為廈門早期中國通歐英國郵政史實例之一，郵戳清晰，兼具歷史與郵集收藏價值。(Image 1) (Image 2)

2914 cover image1865 Amoy (26 Oct) to USA, sent ‘1-9-1/2” and set “via Southampton”, f.w. Hong Kong QV 4c + 18c + 24c, tied by Webb type A Amoy Paid cds in red. Transit Hong Kong (28 Oct) and further applied B62 obliterator on adhesive. Transit London (22 Dec). Showing “5 CENTS” h.s. With Holcombe signature. When Amoy BPO was established, the stamped covers were required to bring to Hong Kong Post Office for sorting where QV stamps would be cancelled again by B62 obliterator. At the origin Amoy, the red Amoy Paid red cds has been cancelled as well. This method was adopted before the use of A1 and D27 obliterator. Pearson recorded about 16 stamps QV stamps applied with this cds while Webb recorded 13. Provenance: Admiral George C. Dyer

1865.10.26 廈門寄美國，寫有“1-9-1/2′郵資及“via Southampton”批丕，貼香港維多利亞女皇像4仙 + 18仙 +24仙，銷少見Webb A型廈門英局已付紅色日戳。10.28經香港，貼票再鈐B62殺手戳。12.22經倫敦。鈐“5CENTS”戳記。帶Holcombe簽署。 在廈門英國客郵局成立之初，貼票之信封需經香港分揀，並再銷B62殺手戳。在始發地廈門則使用此紅色已付日戳，隨後被A1及D27殺手戳取而代之。Pearson記錄共有十六件貼票封使用廈門已付日戳，Webb記錄則有13件。 源流: Admiral George C. 2915 cover image1874 Amoy (4 Nov) to USA, applied with Amoy BPO index A cds on reverse, matching with "USS Yangtzie, Amoy Nov 2. 1874" annotation on front. Transit Hong Kong (4 Nov) with "PAID ALL" cds and f.w. Hong Kong QV 8cc, tied by B62 obliterator. Transit San Francisco (19 Dec). Since 1 Nov 1867, Hong Kong to USA via San Francisco mail only charged 8c per 1/2oz and were applied with Hong Kong Paid All cds. 2005 (25 Jun) Zurich Asia, lot 795.

1874.11.4 廈門寄美國，背面鈐廈門英局A字始發日戳。正面寫有“USS Yangtzie, Amoy Nov 2. 1874”批注。11.4經香港，鈐PAID ALL紅色日戳。貼維多利亞女皇像8仙，銷B62殺手戳。12.19經三藩市。自1867年11月1日，香港經三藩市寄美國郵件每半盎司僅收取8仙，並蓋上香港PAID ALL戳記。2005.6.25 蘇黎世亞洲，拍品號795。(Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)

1768 imageca 1880 Hong Kong to Persia, bearing oval “H. A. ASGER & H. ESMAIL / HONG KONG” seal. With letter sheet content. A nice and scarce mail with only a few covers recorded. H. A. Asger & Hajee Esmail is an Indian trading house in Hong Kong, located on Holleywood Road.

1771 image1870s Hong Kong QV stamp colour reference sheet set of 9 in vertical pair, denominations from 2c to 96c. 8c with slight ink on surface. According to Marcus Samuel, these colour reference sheets were produced by De La Rue for their record of the printing plates of Crown Colonies Stamp including Hong Kong, Strait Settlements, New Zealand etc. Only 1 sheet of 240 stamps of each value of each of these colonies were printed. Please see “Hong Kong QV Plate Proofs?” by William Kwan.

1870年代香港維多利亞女皇像顏色參考票直雙連共9件，面值由2仙至96仙。8仙票面帶輕微墨污。按Marcus Samuel所述，這批顏色參考票由德納羅印製，以存檔記錄英國殖民地郵票之版式。當中包括香港、海峽殖民地、新西蘭等。每個殖民地之每款面額僅印製一版240枚。詳見William Kwan著《Hong Kong QV Plate Proofs?》一文。(Image 1) (Image 2)

Hong Kong QV 8c in pair with printing shifted variety, tied by B62 obliterator, alongside with Hong Kong Paid All cds in red, matching with Hong Kong cds on reverse. Transit San Francisco (11 Jul). Since 1 Nov 1867, Hong Kong-USA postal convention rate reduced to 8c. Double rate example.

1788 image1866 Hong Kong (30 Dec) to India, sent “P Mail Steamer” and rated;”2/-”, f.w. Hong Kong QV 24c, tied by B62 obliterator, matching with Hong Kong cds and “F. Thos. Remedios” oval forwarding agent seal on reverse. Arrived Bombay (21 Jan). Since 27 Jan 1866, Hong Kong to India by British packet rate was 8c. Scarce triple rate example. Remedios was a prominent Macanese-Portuguese merchant family active in Hong Kong and Macau during the 19th century.

1866.12.30 香港寄印度，寫有“P Mail Steamer”及“郵資“2/-”，貼香港維多利亞女皇像24仙，背鈐香港日戳及“F. Thos. Remedios”轉運代理橢圓形戳記。1.21抵孟買。1866年1月27日起，自香港經英國郵船寄印度收取8仙，故此為三倍郵郵例子，少見。Remedios為十九世紀活躍於港澳之葡人商人家族。(Image 1) (Image 2)
