853 cover image1901 Mengtsz (23 Dec) to Hanoi. Registered cover, f.w. Navigation and Commerce issue x4, in total of 55c, tied by Mengtse (Mongtze) French PO cds, alongside with R mark. Transit Laokay (28 Dec). Arrived Hanoi (6 Jan). In 2024 (Nov), AVA Auctions offered a Mengtze to Paris cover, dated 28 Jan 1902 and claimed it is probably the earliest cover since the name of the post office was changed from Laokay A to Mongtze. This cover, however, is even earlier. 2012 (Apr) Interasia, lot 1489.

1901.12.23 蒙自寄河內。掛號封，貼航海及商貿神像票4枚，合55生丁，銷蒙自法局日戳，旁鈐R章。12.28經老街。1.6抵河內。2024年11月艾華秋拍曾出售一件1902年1月28日之蒙自寄巴黎封，稱可能為老街A法國客郵局正名為蒙自後之最早實寄封，然而此封更早。2012.4 Interasia，拍品號1489。(Image 1) (Image 2)
