Qing Dynasty red band cover from Shanghai to Yunnanfu via Minchu. Applied with Shanghai Minchu "Tien Soon Hsia" vertical seal. Transit Chungking. Sender was a Szechuan official while the adderssee was an education official in Yunnan. Tien Soon Hsia, on the other hand, was a sizable Min Chu with its headquarter in Szechuan. Customs Post was not availbe to public by that time. 1901 Yunnanfu (3 Dec) to England. ICP 1st Print PSC, uprated by Coiling Dragon 1c + 2c, tied by Yunnanfu PO tombstone cancel. Transit Mengtsz (12 Dec), Hokow (18 Dec) and cancelled indicia. In combination with Navigation and Commerce issue, tied by Laokay (19 Dec) cds. Further transit Hanoi (27 Dec). 25 days of transit from Yunnanfu to Hanoi. This tombstone cancel is the earliest cancel used by Imperial Post in Yunnanfu, not to mention in combination with French Indochina issues. Only about 20 combination mails of French Indochina issues from Yunnan are known to exist and it is the earliest postcard. Trasit Shanghai (6 Feb), Tientsin (9 Feb). Arrived Peking (11 Feb). Before Jan 1907, mails from Yunnan via Tonkin or Burma had to pay international postage. But since Feb 1907, domestic mails from Yunnan via sea route were no longer handled by French Indochina post so only domestic postage was charged. But mails taking Burma route still had to pay international postage.
