1902 Orange Free State. 1881 (Nov 11) Registered cover to England, 2/- postage paid by 1d brown (6, one torn) + 6d rose (3) each cancelled by numeral "16", Wepener, Cape Town and London datestamps and straight line "REGISTERED" all on the front. Minor faults but a scarce early registered letter, O.F.S stamps only valid for overseas postage from the start of 1881.

1904 1853-1990 Stamps and covers, a display collection on pages including Cape triangulars (6), 1896 5/- and 1902-04 KEVII set mint; Mafeking 6d on British Bechuanaland 3d used; Natal with reasonable 1859-73 issues, 1902-03 set mint; Union of South Africa with 1913-24 ½d - 10/- mint, 1927-30 2d - 10/- set in mint pairs, most other sets in pairs with some listed varieties, etc. Also duplicates in stockbooks, and postal history including interprovincial uses, Boer War, WW2 P.O.W mail, 1906 card posted in Johannesburg franked G.B 1d with boxed "POSTAGE NOT PREPAID / IN / TRANSVAAL STAMPS", etc. (100s).

1909 1900 (Nov 10) Budrick of Cape Town printed pictorial envelope posted from Cape Town to London franked 1d, the enclosed letter on pictorial notepaper from a soldier in 73rd Squadron, Pagets Horse at Makenzie Camp. The letter includes "I am for home, it is a great favour which Lady Churchill (?) & The Hon. Miss Cavendish did for me ...... last week Steel died while going for a farmhouse near Mafeking ..... I will bring you a cartridge shell which I picked up on the battlefield of Mafeking ..... all the letters were lost, the Boers captured the mails twice ....." The cover with a little edge staining, otherwise fine, an interesting letter.

1920 British P.O.W Mail. 1900 Covers from Capt. Oliver Nugent, 1st Bn. Kings Royal Rifles, P.O.W in Pretoria, to his wife in England, a stampless cover with circular violet "(arms) / 11 JAN. 1900 / COMMANDANT GENERAAL", Pretoria c.d.s and Press Censor, and a cover with Transvaal 2½d tied by Pretoria c.d.s (May 3) and blue boxed "GEZIEN, / POSTCENSOR, / PRETORIA, / Z.A.R.". Nugent was severely wounded and captured at Dundee on October 23rd; the first stampless cover has the recipient s inscription showing it was written from Rourke Hospital in Pretoria, the later stamped cover from the officer s P.O.W camp at the Staats Model School in Pretoria. Minor creasing, the second cover with closed tear. (2).

1921 British P.O.W Mail. 1900 Covers from British P.O.Ws in Pretoria sent via Mozambique franked 2½d, one from Lt. L.A Myburgh, Kitcheners Horse, to his fianc√àe in Wynberg with violet boxed "GEZIEN, / POSTCENSOR, / PRETORIA, / Z.A.R" and Press Censor, 7 May c.d.s; the other to England with censor label tied by 6 April c.d.s, the stamp uncancelled, a few opening faults or folds. (2).

1922 British P.O.W Mail. 1900 (Mar 7) Cover to "Lt. Colonel J.F Burn-Murdoch, The Royal Dragoons, Natal Field Force, South Africa" endorsed "From T.D Pilkington, 1Lt. 1.R.D, Prisoner of War", a Transvaal 2½d cancelled at Pretoria (Mar. 27), backstamped at Lourenco Marques and Durban, censored with a blue "G" and tick, Press Censor cachet. The enclosed seven page letter, censored with blue crayon "G, 9/3/00", describes his capture and move to Pretoria and those captured, killed or wounded in the action, 115 British officers are now in the camp with more arriving regularly, he briefly describes the camp and lists the other cavalry officers there. The cover with opening tears at left, otherwise fine, very unusual with the enclosed letter, interestingly not posted until 18 days after it was censored.

1923 Mozambique. 1899-1902 Censored covers (14) and a front, from Lourenco Marques to Transvaal (2, cover + front with Boer censors), Cape Colony (2) or Natal; or from Transvaal (5), Cape (2) or Natal (3) to Lourenco Marques, two covers with Durban censor seal type IE, one Lourenco Marques cover to Cape Town handstamped "T" and "50" with a "100" charge mark, an unusual stampless cover from an officer in the Suffolk Regt. posted at F.P.O 27 to an officer on the S.S "Formosa" Transport No. 42 at Durban and redirected to Lourenco Marques with ten backstamps. Also 1901 cover from the Portuguese Consulate General in Pretoria to Natal. (16).

Tindall, P.O.W on board "Lake Erie" at Table Bay about to depart for St. Helena. (4).

1925 1920 (Feb 14) Cover franked 1d + 1/- pair cancelled at Cape Town, addressed to Beaufort West, endorsed "Per Aerial Post" and handstamped red "CARRIED BY / AEROPLANE", carried by Handley-Page "Pioneer" trial flight from Wynberg to Johannesburg which crashed near Beaufort West, the salvaged mail carried on by rail. Also a piece of wood from the aeroplanes propeller which was previously glued to the cover, the cover stained as a result and also glued together, still very scarce with only about twenty covers recorded from this flight.
