Ltd", second issue containing 26 various adverts from London companies, including medicines, an optician, exam coaching, trusses, tapestry restoration, a banjo studio, pianos, fridges, gas governors, tea, cocoa, printers, filters, rubber stamps, suits, iron and steel trousers for workmen, etc., some folds strengthened and blank lower sheet probably removed, nevertheless very scarce.

227 1889 1d Lettersheet containing ten adverts from various London companies (five illustrated) for rum, tea, The Demon Beetle Trap, carriages, Cherry Blossom perfume, cocoa, cod liver oil, Edwards Oriental Sauce and Life Insurance, posted from London to Fort Westmoreland, Cork Harbour. Vertical fold to left flap, lower blank sheet probably removed, a very scarce postally used lettersheet probably produced by The Halfpenny Letter Post Co. Ltd.

228 1893 ½d Lettersheet containing 13 adverts including vocalists, instrumentalists & bands provided for concerts and entertainments, bloaters from Great Yarmouth, electric lighting, sheet music, Mizpah brooches, "The Morning" newspaper, Scotch tweeds, mineral water, etc., published by The International Envelope Co. Ltd in London, with a preprinted address of W.H Smith & Son in Manchester. Blank lower sheet possibly removed, otherwise fine, very rare with a ½d stamp.

229 Ireland. c.1880 1d lettersheet with two pages containing 21 differing adverts (ten of these printed a second time on the second page) for various Dublin companies, including a dyer and cleaner, The Torpedo Washer, hair cutting, portrait photos, hair colour restorer, musical instruments, galvanised iron roofing, baby carriages, sponges, tea, brushes, whisky, waterproof clothing, etc., published by The Halfpenny Letter Co. Ltd in London and sold through their agent Wm Hickey in Dublin. Very fine, the only recorded example.

233 1873 1½d Rose-pink envelope, the stamp dated 10/5/73, cut to shape but unfolded, handstamped "TO BE / TRANSFERRED", used on stationery returned to the accounting office for a credit to be issued (because of damage, printing faults or too many items printed). Very scarce, all such stationery should have been destroyed by the Inland Revenue.

234 image1888 (Dec 20) Long cover with embossed 1½d + 2½d + 1/- + 3d + 2d + 1½d, posted to Montreal franked ½d + 9d pair and single. Various long foolscap envelopes commercially used to Canada are believed to have contained heavy printing plates. A very scarce six stamp compound printing envelope and a remarkable 4/2 rate for a 10oz letter, minor creasing. Photo on Page 32. (Image1)

236 1874 Ink recipe, "Copper Red, For 1½d Envelopes & Somerset House" bearing De La Rue dummy stamp block of four in the issued brown colour, with additional note "In Feby 1893 this ink was used for the 10d Postage Envelope and the 1½d die was printed in yellow". A unique item from the De La Rue ink recipe book, used for the 1½d and 10d envelopes. Also an issued 1891 1½d envelope without frame to the stamp.

241 1855-87 Ink recipes from the De La Rue ink recipe book, all for blue but using differing ingredients, all headed "For Somerset House 2d blue envelope", also ink recipe "47 - White - for general use" which was a major component of the original blue recipe, the second and third recipes with the additional note "This ink was abandoned for this postage envelope and the maroon ink recipe No. 351 used instead". The three blue recipes with paper samples attached (now discoloured), other recipes on reverse, one for an Italy 2c stamp. A unique group. (4).
