1041 Somaliland - Literature. "Official History of the Operations in Somaliland 1901-04", produced by the General Staff, War Office, published by H.M.S.O 1907, two volumes, 635 pages with 51 plates and a map, ex. Gerald Sattin library. Both volumes well used with the title lost from the spines, vol. 1 split into two parts, vol. 2 with back cover loose, nevertheless scarce volumes with excellent detailed content.

1042 Somaliland. 1903 (Feb 22) Long cover from Lt. A.E Silvertop R.N, leader of the Marconi Detachment, to his wife in London, posted at Berbera unusually franked by a G.B KEVII 1d stamp which has been ringed as invalid, handstamped "T", boxed "POSTAGE DUE / ANNAS" and "TOO LATE", backstamps of "BERBERA" and Aden. The 1d stamp cancelled upon arrival in London (Mar. 6), the cover delivered without charge. Very unusual.

1043 Somaliland. 1903 (Apr 3) Stampless cover endorsed "From L.S Dyer L.S, Wireless Telegraphs, Somaliland, East Africa" and "no stamps obtainable", countersigned by Lt. C.W.G Crawford, second in command of the Marconi Detachment, posted at Berbera addressed to "W. Roots P.O 2nd, no. 5 Mess, H.M.S Perseus, East India Squadron, Bombay, India, or Elsewhere", redirected to Muscat and Bushire. Handstamped boxed "POSTAGE DUE / ONE ANNA", backstamped at "BERBERA", "SEA POST OFFICE", "BOMBAY" and "MUSCAT" (3 times, AP 21 & MY 7?), the reverse inscribed by the recipient "man who wrote this killed last week in Somaliland". Minor edge faults, horizontal and vertical folds, nevertheless a unique cover from a Leading Seaman serving with the Wireless Telegraphs, sent to Muscat.
