550° og ImageCAMEROON (British), 1915, 3sh on 3m Black Violet, Double Surcharge (64b; SG B12c). Position 19, original gum, lightly hinged, deep rich shade, remarkably well-centered

VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE 1915 3-SHILLING DOUBLE SURCHARGE WITH ONLY 20 PRINTED. THE KEY CAMEROON ERROR AND A MAJOR RARITY OF THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH.

This stamp is only known in unused condition. While a total of 20 were printed with the double surcharge, a block of four and one single (the unique "s" inverted) reside in the Royal Collection leaving only 15 possible to collectors. We know of at least one that has severe faults and not all examples have been recorded, a couple likely having been lost to time.

Signed Tom Allen and Bloch. With 1978 B.P.A. certificate. SG £15,000. (Image)
