2234   Image5c Red Brown (75). Astonishing fiery red color -- the most vivid true shade we have encountered -- cancelled by light face-free strike of Boston large "Paid" grid, beautifully centered, Very Fine and choice, some 5c Red Brown stamps have been touted as "Chestnut", but these invariably prove to be changelings -- this stamp is a genuine shade and has the blazing color that some might call "Chestnut", ex Moody (Image)

2239 ng Image15c Black (77). Horizontal strip of four, unused (no gum), crisp shade and proof-like impression on brilliant white paper

FINE-VERY FINE. A RARE UNUSED MULTIPLE OF THE 1866 15-CENT LINCOLN ISSUE IN AN EXTRAORDINARY STATE OF FRESHNESS.

The 15c 1866 is very rare in original-gum condition, and if this multiple still retained its gum, the Scott value would be $20,000.00, and the righthand stamp might well be worth $15,000 alone. Without gum, the strip will hopefully be acquired and kept intact by a collector who appreciates its philatelic rarity.
