Apr. 29, 1862" circular datestamp struck at exchange point, "10" handstamp for Confederate postage due from Norfolk to Milledgeville, minor top flap tears, Very Fine appearance, an extremely rare cover from the officer's prison at Fort Columbus on Governor's Island N.Y., exchanged via Old Point Comfort and Norfolk and showing postage of both sides, also a late cover through Norfolk which was captured by the Union on May 9 (ending exchanges via this route), only six covers are known from Fort Columbus and Castle Williams (enlisted prisoners) during via-Norfolk period, illustrated in Harrison on p. 174, Charles H. Olmstead commanded Fort Pulaski, which guarded Charleston Harbor and was taken by the Union on April 11, 1862, he was exchanged on Nov. 10, 1862, and then commanded the Georgia 1st Regt.
